Clevedon Model Boating Club
Clevedon & District Model Boat Club meets regularly on Clevedon Marine Lake, welcoming hobbyists of all levels to enjoy model boating in its many forms. Founded in 2005 by around 30 enthusiasts, the club exists to promote model boat building, operation and associated activities, in line with local and national regulations.
What you’ll see & do:
-
A wide variety of models are sailed, including yachts (especially the Club’s adopted “Victoria”), tugboats, paddle steamers, rowing boats, and scale models of pilot cutters and other maritime types.
-
While most types of boats are welcome, internal combustion engine boats are used only by special arrangement—usually during organised events on the adjacent Salthouse Fields.
When & Where:
-
General sailing is possible anytime because Marine Lake is public.
-
Club-organised sailing: Sunday mornings; and during summer, evenings of the fourth Tuesday of each month.
Membership & Extras:
-
Membership benefits include third-party liability insurance for when you sail.
-
Information on joining, events, gallery, contact details etc. are on their website.
Why visit or join:
Even if you don’t have a boat, the club is interesting to watch, especially during their events. If you do decide to join, whether for building or sailing, it’s a friendly group and a picturesque spot by the Severn Estuary.
